Visiting maternity

Antenatal

  • ONE person may accompany you in Antenatal Clinic and Day Assessment Unit
  • Your partner accompanying in Antenatal Clinic or Day Assessment Unit may be asked to wait outside until the time of assessment. This is due to limited capacity in these clinical areas
  • Children are allowed to attend antenatal appointments if there is no alternative childcare available
  • ONE primary birth partner can visit you on Katherine Ward between 8am and 8pm
  • Siblings are allowed to visit on Katherine ward between 2pm and 7pm
  • A maximum of 2 visitors (including your birth partner and children)are allowed perbedside at any one time.

Triage

  • ONE person may accompany you in Triage
  • Your partner accompanying in Triage will be asked to wait outside until thetime of assessment. This is due to limited capacity within Triage

Labour and birth

  • TWO allocated birth partners are permitted for the duration of labour and birth
  • In the case of emergency caesarean section or admission to theatre, only ONE birth partner is permitted, the second birth partner will be politely asked to leave. This is due to limited capacity in theatre and recovery
  • Only ONE allocated birth partner is permitted for elective caesarean section
  • No swapping of birth partners is allowed on Labour Ward
    Children are NOT permitted on Labour Ward at any time.

Postnatal and NNU

  • ONE primary birth partner is able to visit Alexandra and Marina postnatalwards between 8am and 8pm
  • Siblings are allowed to visit between 2pm and 7pm
  • Other visitors are permitted to visit between 2pm and 7pm.
  • A maximum of 2 visitors (including the birth partner and children) are allowed per bedside at any one time
  • Unrestricted access for both parents ONLY on NNU.


When waiting in the maternity building it is important to keepthe landings clear as these areas may be needed to movepatients in emergencies.
