Trust launches AccessAble guides

We have become the latest of over 90 NHS Trusts to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information.

Working with AccessAble, we have created detailed access guides to facilities, wards, and departments at Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital.

The guides are 100 per cent facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the hospital sites, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to partner with The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, recognising how crucial access information is for disabled patients, visitors and staff.

We know that visiting hospital can increase anxiety and not being able to find out about the facilities available can really add to that. Our guides provide part of the solution to reduce missed appointments, giving the information people need about accessibility, so they plan their visit and feel confident about what to expect.”

Patricia Wright, Chief Executive at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“We are delighted to have partnered with AccessAble to improve how we communicate the accessibility of our site for all users of the hospital. As an organisation, we are committed to creating an inclusive, safe and secure environment for our staff, patients and visitors and continue to work closely with our community to embrace new platforms such as AccessAble.

We recognised that that our sites were confusing, and likely to become more so as we more through the redevelopment of the Hillingdon site, and the expertise of AccessAble has been invaluable in managing our way through this. We look forward to growing our partnership to improve the experience of our users.”
