Anti discrimination statement

We are fully committed to cultivating an environment where diversity is celebrated, and all forms of discrimination are actively opposed. We believe in creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for our staff, patients, and the communities we serve.

Our commitment extends to upholding the rights of all individuals, including those protected under the Equality Act 2010, and other vulnerable or underrepresented groups. We expect all members of our Trust to honour and uphold these principles in every aspect of our work.

It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origins), religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation and any other prejudiced behaviour that undermines the rights, wellbeing and identity of our staff and patients.

Discriminatory behaviour, whether it manifests as verbal or physical abuse, harassment, exclusion, stereotyping, or the denial of equal opportunities, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within our Trust. We are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to fair treatment and the opportunity to thrive.

To fulfil our commitment, we will:

  • Actively listen to and amplify the voices of colleagues, patients, and communities who experience discrimination or lack representation.

  • Work diligently to eliminate inequalities within our Trust, ensuring equitable access, treatment, and outcomes for all patient groups.

  • Transform our commitment into tangible actions that drive meaningful change.

  • Leverage our position to influence positive changes in the broader social determinants of health.

  • Continuously learn from the experiences of all underrepresented groups and apply those learnings to improve our practices.

  • Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and curiosity, understanding that sustained effort and resources are essential to achieving the changes we envision.

  • Encourage all members of our Trust to join us in eradicating unfairness and discrimination within our organization and the wider community.

Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable future for everyone.
