Research & Development

We are proud of our strong research track record, particularly for a hospital of our size.

Our goal is for 'research to be everybody’s business and a golden thread throughout all that we do', enabling staff and patients to take part in, and benefit from, research. This strategy supports the Trust vision 'to deliver the best possible care for all who need our services'.

Our research priorities are:

  • To create and embed a strong research culture
  • To empower patients to participate in research
  • To develop a sustainable multidisciplinary research workforce.

Our primary focus is recruiting patients into high-quality National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio's multi-centre trials. We  actively participate in commercial research funded by the pharmaceutical industry and non-commercial research, funded by Charities, UK Research Councils and the Department of Health via the NIHR.

Participation in clinical research demonstrates The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s commitment to improving patient care contributing to the nation’s wider health improvement and ensuring our clinical staff stay at the forefront of new treatment possibilities.
