Please note that there are sometimes criteria for direct engagement with the local authority, for example being part of a group such as under-18s, pregnant people or if you have a disability or long-term condition.

However, further advice and support, such as the NHS Better Health personal quit plan, is available as well as tips for quitting, an app and online support.

Supporting a smoke-free generation

Hillingdon Hospital Smoke-free Mandate - supporting a smoke-free generation.

At Hillingdon Hospital we are committed to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. As part of this commitment, and to mark National No Smoking Day, we are proud to reaffirm that Hillingdon Hospital is a smoke-free site.

Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on hospital grounds, including entrances, car parks and outdoor areas. This policy aligns with our core aims to promote health and well-being, reduce the risks associated with smoking and passive exposure, and ensure the best possible care for our patients.

As a health provider we have a moral duty to protect our community and our staff. We fully support the upcoming Government Tobacco and Vapes bill which will ban smoking in areas outside schools, children’s playgrounds and hospitals. Over the next couple of months, we will be stepping up our efforts to support a smoke-free generation and welcome you to join us on this mission.

“As healthcare professionals we see first-hand the devastating impact of smoking on individuals, families, and communities. Smoking-related illnesses remain one of the leading causes of preventable death and disease, and as a hospital, we have a duty to lead by example.

“Hillingdon Hospital has been a smoke-free site for some time, and with the forthcoming Tobacco and Vapes Bill we are reinforcing our commitment to a healthier future for all. This means that smoking and vaping will not be permitted anywhere on our premises, and we will continue to support patients, visitors, and staff in making positive choices for their health.

“We recognise that quitting smoking is a challenge, and we are here to help. We encourage anyone who needs support to access stop smoking services, including nicotine replacement therapies and tailored advice.

“We ask for your cooperation in respecting our smoke-free policy and joining us in creating a healthier, cleaner environment for all who work in, visit, or receive care at Hillingdon Hospital. Together, we can help create a future free from tobacco harm.”
