A group of young adults with learning disability or autism spectrum conditions has successfully completed an internship at Hillingdon Hospital – with one making it a permanent move.

The interns, who were the second set to take advantage of the opportunity since the Trust joined the scheme run by DFN Project SEARCH last autumn, continued to excel and learn important employability skills at the hospital in Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon.

The project is a one-year transition to work programme for young people who come to the Trust for intensive work placements. It is supported by the charity Hillingdon Autistic Care and Support.

Leo Hunt is the first intern of the 2023/2024 cohort to secure a paid position at Hillingdon Hospital as a staff bank porter, following a 10-week stint in the department.

He thanked head of portering, Sue Bolt, and her team for all their support.
