Nurse trainers bag top award
Nurse trainers have been recognised for their excellent training programme and superb teaching methods with a national award.
The Clinical Development and Training Department is celebrating winning the Capital Nurses Quality Mark for Preceptorship, awarded by NHS England.
The award is for programmes which deliver the preceptorship framework to newly qualified nurses, which provides structured support and guidance for them, and which includes overseas nurses and apprentice nurses. It is designed to help build confidence and safely manage the transition to becoming an autonomous nursing professional.
Raviraj Biefun, lead nurse for education, was delighted at the news. He said: "I am absolutely delighted for the Trust. This is testament of the hard work Ashram Ramkalawan, Tapiwa Hatitye and Claire Dua have put in.
“Having the quality mark will go a long way towards reassuring staff that the preceptorship programme delivered in the Trust is recognised by NHSE. I invite all clinical area managers to ensure their newly qualified or eligible staff are allowed to join the programme."
