Transforming stroke rehabilitation with innovative digital initiative

Using virtual reality and remote monitoring to enhance stroke recovery

We have been awarded funding through the New Hospital Programme to develop a digital health solution for stroke rehabilitation. In collaboration with Reneural (a neurotech company dedicated to transforming stroke recovery) and Brunel University London, we are developing an innovative digital solution for clinicians and patients, allowing physiotherapists and occupational therapists to remotely interact with patients to treat and monitor stroke rehabilitation.

The project will establish a clinician dashboard that enables physiotherapists and occupational therapists to remotely interact with patients, treat them, and monitor stroke rehabilitation. Reneural’s virtual reality rehabilitation system aims to enhance therapy efficiency and improve accessibility for stroke survivors, particularly those facing upper-limb mobility challenges.

Therapy can easily be adapted as needed with clinician expertise, all from the patient’s home.

The New Hospitals Programme received 69 submissions, of which only 13 projects were selected for emerging technologies funding. Initiative such as this improve patient experience, whilst reducing foot-fall to the new hospital.
