Join glaucoma and AMD patient and user forums at Hillingdon Hospital

The Glaucoma Patient and User Forum will meet on Tuesday 18 June, to bring patients past and present who have experienced this eye condition up to speed with the latest best practice.

Then on Friday 28 June, there will be a coffee morning with talks, support and advice for AMD patients and their families.

As part of our Trust's ongoing efforts to ensure the best in patient care, all past and present patients, and familiy members or friends, are welcome to attend.

Both forums will be held in the Education Centre at Hillingdon Hospital, in Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon UB8 3NN. Click here for AccessAble information about our hospital.

Public transport is recommended, if possible, because of highly restricted parking on the hospital site. Please click here for bus information.

On 18 June, consultants from the Ophalmology Department and experts from the charity Glaucoma UK will give short talks and then take any questions you may have. The programme is as follows:

  • 9.30am - Arrival. Tea and coffee served.
  • 10am - Lecture 1. The Importance Of Glaucoma Examinations
  • 10.30am - Lecture 2. Glaucoma Treatment Options
  • 11am - Lecture 3. Living Well With Glaucoma
  • 11.30am - Q&A session.

For the AMD coffee morning on 28 June, anyone with a macular condition, their families and friends are welcome to attend.

The event starts at 9.30am in the Education centre, and includes talks by Trust ophthalmologits on steroid implants in the treatment of macular disorders and dry AMD and the latest research.

Judith Potts from Esme's Umbrella will speak about Charles Bonnet Syndrome, and Ben Rendle of the Macular Society will outline the support his charity can provide.

Refreshments will be provided and the session ends at 12.30pm.

If you would like to attend either or both events, please contact Kerry Singer by email on kerry.singer@nhs.net or call 07864 954934.
