Mayor of Hillingdon begins festivities at Hillingdon Hospital
We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Philip Corthorne, and Mayoress, Fiona Corthorne, for a special visit to Hillingdon Hospital to mark the start of the festive season.
Staff and families gathered to hear Christmas songs from the John Locke Academy Choir and see the lights on our Christmas tree being turned on.
Dr Alan McGlennan, chief medical officer and managing director, welcomed our guests: “We are delighted to welcome the choir from John Locke Academy and the Mayor and Mayoress to help us start Christmas here at Hillingdon Hospital. I would also like to take this opportunity to say that we are very proud of our incredible staff and everything that they do for our patients."
Councillor Philip Corthorne expressed his joy at returning to the hospital where he was born:
“It's a real joy to be here among so many wonderful people. There are some incredible people who work day in and day out, and we are so grateful to them. I must also thank the pupils from John Locke Academy for their beautiful carol singing.”
After the speeches, the Mayor and members of the choir, pressed the red button, lighting up the Christmas tree and bringing festive cheer to everyone.
The Mayor and Mayoress also visited our Stroke Unit and Discharge Lounge. As a stroke survivor himself, Councillor Corthorne was keen to see the incredible work being done to support patients recovering from strokes.
