We welcome new chief nurse, Sarah Burton

Sarah Burton has been appointed as our Trust chief nurse. She will take up the role on 1 May 2023.

Sarah has worked in the NHS for the past 30 years, holding a range of senior leadership roles.

She is currently deputy chief nurse at University College London hospitals and previously worked in senior roles at Ashford and St Peter’s hospitals.

Sarah brings a strong background in quality and safety along with extensive operational experience and collaborative system leadership. She has a degree in cancer nursing, a master’s degree in strategic clinical leadership and values a culture of learning.

Our chief executive, Patricia Wright has paid tribute to Melanie van Limborgh, our outgoing chief nurse.

“I would like to thank Melanie for her outstanding contribution to the Trust  over the last two and-a-half years and to wish her every success in her next career move,” said Patricia.

“Melanie will be leaving the Trust on 30 April 2023 and she and Sarah will make arrangements for handover during April.

Sarah said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Trust and am looking forward to meeting and working with teams across the organisation.

“I am committed to supporting the further development and wellbeing of the nurses, midwives and allied health professionals to deliver the very best experience and outcomes for patients”.
