Our Trust has achieved some of the best scores in the country for the 2023 Patient Led Assessment of Care of Environment (PLACE) and was rated best in the country for quality of food.

The annual PLACE survey examines the non-clinical aspects of care environments, such as cleanliness and quality of food, with a clear focus on the patient perspective.

Assessments are conducted by a team of Trust staff and patient representatives drawn from Healthwatch (NHS England’s preferred partner organisation), Trust Governors and local patient representatives.

For the 2023 assessment, our Trust’s scores were above average in all domains, with Hillingdon Hospital achieving the highest patient food score in the country and the fourth highest cleanliness score.

Assessors are required to score what they see on the day against the PLACE assessment criteria, and our scores for Food, Organisation Food and Ward Food were all at 100%, against national averages of 90.86%, 91.17% and 90.98% respectively.

Our cleanliness score was 99.95% compared to the 98.10% national average.
