Temporary heating and hot water supply at Hillingdon Hospital
Hillingdon Hospital is to secure the supply of heating and hot water to its site with a year-long upgrade to its systems.
Using temporary boilers, placed at the front of the hospital in Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, the hospital will make repairs to an underground steam main pipe.
There will be no impact on services.
Patients and visitors will see some scaffolding at the A&E entrance carrying the new pipes into the hospital. The arrangement will be in place for about a year.
Installation work will be designed to cause minimal disruption, including off-peak work where possible. Hospital users are asked to exercise caution in the area and obey any signs put up for their safety.
Rochelle Gee, the hospital's Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities, said: “We recognise the fact we have an ageing estate at Hillingdon and we are looking forward to rebuilding the hospital in the near future. In the meantime, we need a robust system for the existing hospital and so we are carrying out these repairs as quickly and with as little disruption as possible.”
