Trust sustains winning streak with Metsa Award

The Trust has again been recognised for our sustainability with the Metsa ‘Carbon Reducer of the Year’ award.

We were praised our energy management, sustainability initiatives and food waste management and the judges commended the Trust for its "very comprehensive and ambitious project, which provided some notable examples of practical changes that are having a positive impact.

They said the project achieved 'remarkable results' in less than two years regarding measurable carbon reduction. The judges were also impressed by the 'leadership's commitment and the cultural change achieved'.

We were the only NHS Trust shortlisted and the first NHS award winner beating private sector organisations.

Steve Wedgwood said, "Another excellent example of where Estates and Facilities and the whole Trust is being recognised nationally for its sustainability work and I'm pleased to say it is the seventh sustainability award we've won in just four years."
